Terms of use and privacy
Version of 19 September 2026 · Version française
This English text is a translation provided for convenience. The French version is the binding one: in case of any difference between the two, the French version prevails.
1Who I am
Cours BA5 is an independent platform that I designed and operate: Jérémy Nicolet, JN Solutions Digitales (sole proprietorship), Route de la Folliaz 70, 1691 Villarimboud, Switzerland, UID CHE-489.689.942. Contact: contact@jn-digital.ch.
I am myself a student in the same year. The platform is neither affiliated with EPFL nor endorsed by it or by its teaching staff.
2The service
For the courses of the fall 2026 semester of the bachelor in mechanical engineering (BA5), the platform offers summaries, cheat sheets, solution methods, quizzes with progress tracking and a weekly tracker, in French and in English (the English version is a translation of the French one).
- Content is added as the semester goes on, with no guaranteed schedule. Some weeks may arrive later than others.
- The list of courses covered may change.
- The platform does not replace the lectures, Moodle or the official course material. Practical information (exams, dates, rules) must always be checked with the official sources.
3Content produced with the help of artificial intelligence
The summaries, cheat sheets and quizzes are written with the help of an artificial intelligence tool, from my notes and the course material, and then reviewed. They may nevertheless contain errors, omissions or approximations — and so may their English translation.
- I guarantee neither their accuracy, nor their completeness, nor their suitability for any exam.
- They must not be your only source: when in doubt, the course and the teacher prevail.
- If something looks wrong, the “Report an error” button (under every quiz answer and on every summary) sends it straight to me.
4Liability
To the extent permitted by Swiss law, I exclude my liability for any damage related to the use of the content or of the platform — in particular an exam result, a grade, a content error or a temporary unavailability of the site. This exclusion does not apply in case of intent or gross negligence.
5Account and use
- Sign-up requires an @epfl.ch email address that belongs to you, confirmed by a one-time code.
- The account is strictly personal. It can be open on at most three devices; beyond that, the oldest one is signed out.
- You may not share your access, nor copy, publish, resell or distribute the content (texts, quizzes, PDFs, screenshots), including in chat groups, nor extract it by automated means.
- In case of abuse, I may suspend or close the account: I warn you first where possible, and a pro rata refund remains due unless the abuse consists in distributing or reselling the content.
6Free trial and price
- 10-day free trial from sign-up, with no payment method required.
- After that, full access costs CHF 49, paid once, until 28 February 2027 (end of the winter exam session). No automatic renewal, no subscription.
- Payment is made from the “My account” page. It is processed by the payment provider Stripe (card or TWINT): I never receive your card details. Access is unlocked as soon as Stripe confirms the payment, and a confirmation is sent to you by email.
- During the trial, you receive at most two emails about it: two days before it ends, then on the day it ends.
- Since the trial lets you test the service before paying, the payment is non-refundable, unless the platform became permanently unavailable through my fault: in that case, I refund pro rata for the remaining period.
- When the trial ends without payment, access is blocked but your progress is kept.
- JN Solutions Digitales is not subject to VAT.
7Copyright
The texts, quizzes and layout of the platform are my property. The teachers' material (slides, exercise sets, solutions) remains the property of its authors: it is not distributed on the platform. Where a summary relies on a diagram from the course, a caption tells you where to find it on Moodle.
8Personal data
I process your data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).
- What I keep: your email address; the dates of sign-up, end of trial and payment, as well as the reference and amount of the Stripe payment; your progress (quiz answers, boxes of the weekly tracker); your chosen language; your error reports; open sessions (date and browser type). Your IP address is kept for 24 hours at most, to block abusive sign-in attempts.
- Why: to run your account and your progress, to secure access, and to send you account-related messages (sign-in code, end of trial, payment confirmation). No advertising, no resale, no audience measurement and no advertising trackers.
- Where: the site and the data are hosted in Switzerland by Infomaniak, which also delivers the emails. Payment is processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, in Ireland, with possible transfers to its US parent company, governed by its standard contractual clauses). For display, the page loads fonts (Google Fonts) and the MathJax formula engine (cdnjs, Cloudflare): these services receive your device's IP address, as with any site that uses them.
- Cookies: only a session cookie required to sign in, a cookie that remembers the chosen language (French or English, also kept in your account), and local storage of your progress on your device. No advertising cookies.
- Retention: until your account is deleted, and at the latest until 31 August 2027. Accounting records related to a payment are kept for 10 years, as required by law.
- Your rights: access, rectification, deletion of the account and of your progress — just write to contact@jn-digital.ch from the account's address.
9Changes and applicable law
I may adapt these terms; a significant change is announced on the platform or by email. Swiss law applies. The place of jurisdiction is Fribourg, subject to the mandatory places of jurisdiction provided for consumers.
